Let me describe the situation here, just in case your living under a rock. We want to fight terrorists in Iraq and other Middle-East countries to gain their freedom. The terrorists are fighting back, not only in the middle east, but at home to (see 9-11). The US government raises taxes so that they can “fight terrorism” in the US and support our troops in Iraq. We claim the terrorists are losing. We start a massive terrorist hunt in our own country. This. My god, where is this country going?
Hm, I’m not so sure the terrorists *are* fighting back, TBH. Call me a conspiracy nut, but I’m starting to lean more and more towards the notion that 9/11 was actually staged — or at least allowed to happen — by the US government. Terrorism has become what “eternal damnation” was in the middle ages — something conveniently abstract and terrifying used to scare the populace into submission.
Also, as for the claim that the terrorists are losing: no, they’re not. The terrorists are actually winning. For every bit of freedom that our governments take away from us in order to fight terrorism, the terrorists score a victory.
And yeah, it’s sick. It’s not just the US though, the politicians on this side of the Atlantic aren’t any better.
Yes, that’s why I said “claim”. Sorry if I didn’t make that clear, but I know that they are. Its the whole “All the troops will be out next year” bleh. I know their winning, and so does the US. About 9/11, I’m not sure about the staging thing, but I kind of think it was allowed to happen. I’m not really sure yet.
Oh, I understood that the “terrorists are losing” thing wasn’t your personal opinion but some general US political sentiment. Anyone with more than three brain cells can see that the war on terrorism is a huge fiasco… there’s just too much prestige involved for the politicians to admit it
Ehh, it is Texas. It being a Republican state and thus one of many that abuses the power of government, it’s not that surprising that this would happen.
