Stumble Upon Is The Best!

30 06 2008

After my second stumble, I found this website, which is now my one-stop-shop for profound quotes. Check it out!

My god what have I done?

I tried to resist. I really did. But now…its over. I’m sorry. Really, I am. Facebook.

I’m Seeing Doubles!

29 06 2008

Today I installed my second monitor. And while the second one is considerably less nice then my first one, its still very nice to have two. For instance, I’m now writing this post while using itunes and playing team fortress 2. So, now I can be twice as productive, right? Right (hardly)!

And on a different note, I wrote about half of Episode 2, but then decided I didn’t like it, so I’m now in the process of re-writing it. Yeah, get excited. You know you are.

Rawrnor Gargthan’s Tale: Episode One

28 06 2008

It’s to long to post here, but go check it out under author works at gray sun productions. It mainly the history leading up to the present day, and ends with a bit of a shock. Part Two will be coming soon, as I feel that this is my best attempt at writing so far, and that I should continue till the end of the story, no matter how short.

Finally – Some Progress

28 06 2008

For the first time I stayed up ’till  1 am in the morning doing something completely different then what I usually stay up doing.  I wasn’t playing a game, I wasn’t reading, I was writing. I know I’m not a very good writer, but I still enjoy doing it. After some helpful advice from a friend, I decided to change my style a bit and start anew, with a bigger, better story. What resulted was a page of history about Rawrnor Gargthan. I intend to release it in three, short, episodes. If I like the character and the world, then I’ll go farther. If I don’t, then I’ll stop. Thats how its going to work. (Yeah right).

The Gray Sun Productions site is now up!

27 06 2008

I have taken my domain name (which I wasn’t using anyhow) and created a wiki with it. It serves 2 purposes. One: It servers as a place to post all of my short stories, and Two: Its also a sort of writers social networking site. Do I expect many or any people to use it? Of course not, I’m not that arrogant. But I do know a couple of people who might use it, and theres always someone on the internet that wants to do something, so perhaps the site will get a few of those. You do not have to be good at writing, you don’t have to pass any test to join. Just create (two) accounts and your in! It doesn’t have forums, but I don’t think they’re needed, mainly because It would just amplify the emptiness of the site (which will hopefully be gone eventually). But, yeah, let’s see what we can do with it.

The site can be found here. (It has its own domain, yay!)

Bird Attack Version .02 Released!

26 06 2008

What I changed / added:

The birds now go at random speeds; from about half the fixed speed of .01 to full speed.

The ball now rotates.

Features I plan:

A score keeping feature of some kind, probably counting the number of birds on the screen.

Particle effects for birds spawning and the ball dying.

Midnight in Moscow

24 06 2008

“It won’t work…”

“Of course it will!”

“What makes you so sure?”

“Hey, it’s me!”

“I don’t understand how you can just risk your life that way…”

“Well, if I don’t do this, then I’m going to die anyway. Now!”

As the word’s came out of Ryan’s mouth, Charley pulled up on the joystick of his aircraft. Ryan meanwhile was pushing a button on his aircraft to launch two, ultra compact heat-seeking nuclear missiles. The two pilots were US commandos, and they were flying above a small, suburban town in Soviet Russia. However, they were not flying US aircraft. Charley was flying an old, World War One Soviet Aircraft, modified to make it look like a rouge ship. Ryan was flying a more recent German Aircraft, and was pretending to fire on and chase Charley. Presently, a Soviet Base general contacted Ryan:

“What the hell are you doing private! Who are you? You aren’t authorized to be flying here. What? A nuclear miss-get him out of the sky! Open fire, Open fire!”

The missiles flew right past Charley’s aircraft, and headed straight into the ground.

“Uhh…captain? I don’t think we’re going to make it out in time…”

“Good observation! Up! Up!”

As the two planes flew upward:

“Impact Imminent! Get to the bunker, get to the bunker!”

A nuclear explosion is a thing like no other. And although these missiles were designed to minimize radiation, the impact alone is enough to wipe a city off the map. The two planes were thrown to the ground like paper models. Two hours later, after the smoke had cleared, both bodies were unaccounted for.

It would be unwise for me to say that I know about Russia, and Germany, and the secret operations of the US. In fact, I probably couldn’t know any less then what I already do. So please, don’t leave a comment pointing out that there are no such things as heat-seeking nuclear missiles, but I don’t really care. And I know that the Russians wouldn’t be talking like that, or even speaking in English for that matter. So please, don’t bother me with continuity, things are more fun when they don’t make sense.

“Are we clear?”

“Not yet, guard on the second floor window.”

“Any others?”

“Negative, not that I can see.”

“Alright, I’m moving in. Cover my approach.”

“On it.”

Silence.

“Uh…two men converging on your position.”

“Take the window man, I’ll get the others.”

“On your count.”

“Now.”

The silence is broken as three body’s can be faintly heard hitting the ground. Silence again.

“Good job, plant the charges.”

Ryan run’s across the dimly lit street, and disappears into an alleyway. Two minutes later, he comes back out, and runs back to his former position.

“Done.”

“Alright, when’s the convoy supposed to arrive?”

“In about 10 minutes.”

“Alright, here’s what we’re going to do. We need to make them think there are more of us then there really are. Detonate the charges when the first of the trucks comes. I’ll be up in the window, spraying the area with fire. That should make the president get out. You need to be in the alley to kill any of his guards. Once you do, I’ll have a clear shot to him. After he’s dead, move to extraction point A. Helicopters will be coming in to get us out.”

“Sounds good. How long does this have to go on?”

“About a minute. Then the heli’s will show up.”

“Ok, here they come.”

The night silence was broken. Two minutes later, it was back.

No! Not dead!

24 06 2008

Just no news. I don’t know what the average amount of time is between posts for real bloggers, but I just haven’t felt the need to post about anything recently. Hopefully, that’ll change, and all you lucky readers will get something amazing, wonderful, and amaful. Yay for laziness!

Wait! I do have something to say!

If you haven’t heard of it, check out Team Fortress 2, which is a super awesome game which I can always feel free to spend a lot of time with. And if you haven’t heard of EA’s incarnation of it, Battlefield Heroes, which is basically the same thing, but less violent and branded with the Battlefield name, go check that out to. Whew.

Do it for the community

18 06 2008

Ehem. Long ago I read a long, drawn out forum post about how you shouldn’t do something to become famous, or to get a new rank or something like that. You should do it because you enjoy doing it, and that you feel that it is something worth spending your time on and trying your hardest to do your best at it. So, with this in mind, I’m putting off getting paid for this for a while. It seems wrong. Also, I probably won’t advertise this at all unless I really create something that deserves advertising (like if I ever polish that game). So how am I going to get new readers? Word of mouth mostly. I do have it as my signature in a couple of forums, but that doesn’t really count. I know of at least four people who actively check this blog. While this may not seem like much, if those four readers stay satisfied and keep coming back, then I have succeeded in the point of writing this blog. So, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, feel free to email me or post in the comments section. I will always try to answer everything. So…good luck, and thanks for all the fish!
